35 St. Croix Central Students Visit OEM

OEM hosted 35 St. Croix Central (SCC) High School students at its Woodville facility Wednesday as part of a field trip led by Technology Education teachers Garret Wenzel and Bill Emery. Plant Manager Scott Exner and Manager of Staffing and Workforce Development Kelly Sheppard shared with the students their perspectives on how to prepare for careers in advanced engineering, including the importance of post-secondary education.

The OEM visit was the first of three manufacturing destinations for the students. The participating students are in grades 9-12, taking Technology classes in Wood Shop, Weld, Machining, or Computer Aided Design. Small group tours were led by OEM Team Members Justin Swenby, Blaine Leslie, Mark Jiskra, and Matt Tiegs.  Students observed fabrication, welding, machining, paint, and assembly processes.
