Boring Mill Specialist <back to main listing>
Requirements
The following listed articles are required (or as deemed necessary by the hiring authority) for the initial acceptance of a Boring Mill Specialist. A High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Minimum of one (2) years related schooling and two (2) years machining experience or any combination of schooling and/or experience that equals thirty-six (36) months.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate HBM or VBM independently and efficiently.
- Excel at programming and machining OEM’s most difficult parts.
- Ability to line bore within tolerances specified.
- Set up and run multiple machines including mills, lathes, drills - CNC and manual.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to determine most efficient set-up and use of tools.
- Program using machine language, the tool path and tool changes.
- Sharpen tools or select and change inserts.
- Verify that machined parts are within drawing specifications
- Maintain records of set-ups.
- Work with Estimators and Supervisor on problem parts.
- Correct defects immediately.
- Use time and material effectively to meet or exceed Company’s requirements.
- Advise Supervisor of problem areas.
- Perform an acceptable amount of work with few or no errors.
- Works independently with little or no direction.
